Welcome to Day 7 of Handmade Holidays at Pinkie and The Bean!

Today I am sharing a wonderful site and a wonderful lady with you, Ms. Linda from Ms. Linda Made It.

I met Ms. Linda and her husband, Terry, at a local craft show about 2 and a half years ago.  They live in South Carolina and travel twice a year down to Georgia to show her handmade children's outfits at The Cotton Pickin' Fair.  I have purchased several dresses from Ms. Linda and have really loved them all.  She even made the dress Bean wore for her First Birthday party!

Ms. Linda makes A-line dresses, pillowcase dresses and jon jons for children.  All of the dresses come with a matching purse, and some come with a matching scrunchie, too.  I think Bean gets more excited about the purses than the dresses but you can't fault a girl that loves to accessorize, can you?

I purchased this A-line dress from Ms. Linda last year and the second picture is my most recent purchase.  I love the pattern on this pillowcase dress so much.

I contacted Ms. Linda and told her I wanted to share her shop with you all and she was very excited to let me. She shared with me how she got started.

"I've been sewing for 55 years since I was 8 years old. I made extra money as a teenager sewing for my Mom's friends.  I started Ms. Linda Made It in 1992."

Here's a little more information about her products and her shop.

Describe your products: My own line of handmade clothing for children -- dresses, pants outfits, appliqued T-shirt ensembles, matching accessories, boy's long and shortalls, overalls and pants and shirt sets.

Tell me about one of your favorite items? My "Ready? OK!" cheerleader outfit is the "monster" I created in 2010.  The top (or dress) features my original stick-figure cheerleader and is made to celebrate the child's favorite sports team.

My computer would only allow me to see the UGA version but Ms. Linda tells me she makes these in other team's colors, too.  Hard to believe you'd want any other team, though. 

When is the last date you need for orders to be in to be guaranteed delivery by Christmas?  December 5th.

If you're looking for a special outfit for your child for the holidays, I can highly recommend taking a look at Ms. Linda's clothes.  They are very well made and so adorable.  You will be glad to own any of her outfits.

Handmade Holidays - Rebecca Novotny Designs

Welcome to Day 6 of Handmade Holidays at Pinkie and The Bean.

Today I would like to introduce Rebecca Novotny Designs.

I stumbled across Rebecca's Etsy shop one day while browsing shops listed on Cafe Handmade.  I fell in love with her sterling silver nest pendants.  I thought the designs were so sweet and simple.  I knew I wanted to feature her during this series.  So I emailed and begged her to let me blog about her.  LOL  She was so very nice to answer my questions so that I could share her Etsy shop and her beautiful jewelry with you all.

How did you get started?
I am a lover of all things crafty. I went to college for Art Education, and left my teaching job to move with my Air Force husband, and become a stay at home mommy of twins. I have a long history of making gifts for friends and family... and one day someone said 'you should sell these...' and so I did. My goal for my business now is to be able to make enough income to contribute to our family income, while staying home with my boys.

How long have you been doing this?
I have been making jewelry for as long as I can remember. I started wire-wrapping with copper in high school, working with silver in college, and wire-wrapping in silver shortly after.

Describe your products:
I make everyday and special occasion jewelry using sterling silver, freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones, and Swarovski crystals. Each item is carefully made to order, using carefully selected materials. As with all things handmade, each item is unique.

Can you tell us a little about one of your favorite items?
My favorite items to wear are definitely earrings. I love when I have a special occasion, and can dress up my outfit by making matching Swarovski dangles. I love my nest pendants, because they are very personal, and sentimental to mothers. The newest item in my shop are my large Swarovski crystal cluster pendants. I LOVE them, and have been receiving great reviews!

Do you have any sales, discounts or specials going on?
Periodically, I will announce daily sales and shipping discounts to fans of my Facebook page. I also give special discounts to members of Entwined Community.

When is the last date you need for orders to be in to be guaranteed delivery by Christmas?
This is a question that would depend on a case by case basis. December 11th is one of the last days to place an order with basic shipping. Otherwise, we would need to upgrade to Priority or Overnight shipping in order to get your packages to you in time.

Handmade Holidays - The Sassy Squirrel

Welcome to Day 4 of Handmade Holidays at Pinkie and The Bean.

Today we are featuring The Sassy Squirrel!

I was lucky enough to meet Gail, the owner of The Sassy Squirrel, at a local craft show back in October.  She had a tent set up with all of her adorable children's clothing items and to be honest, I wanted one of each!  I love to dress Bean in handmade A-line and pillowcase dresses.  I think they are so pretty and simple.  You can dress them up or down, you can just wear the dress or like today when I sent her off to preschool, I threw some pants on under a pillowcase dress and she was the cutest kid in the class.  Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I'm biased, I know.

I purchased a Christmas pillow case dress from Gail along with a festive korker hairbow for Bean to wear on Christmas Day.  I had planned on dolling Bean up in her outfit last night and taking some pictures to share with you all but Bean was not cooperating.  She had no nap and she just wanted to sleep.  But I promise I will share those pictures with you all soon.  But take my word for it, the dress is adorable!

I mentioned to Gail at the craft fair that I wanted to do this handmade series and asked her if I could feature her shop.  She was excited about the post and answered some questions for me so we could all find out more about her and her clothes.

How did you get started?  When I was pregnant with my second child I was shopping in a local boutique.  The owner said that my son was wearing the cutest outfit and asked where did I get it. I embarrassingly answered that I had made it. She wanted me to make 12 for her shop and two weeks later, my garments were hanging in her store window. I wouldn’t have been prouder if it had been a shop in New York City!

How long have you been doing this? I have been sewing for 40 years. I made all my boys clothes when they were small.

Describe your products: I appliqué and embroider children's clothes. I specialize in personalizing garments.

What is one of your favorite items?  I love the Diaper Covers. Right now I am loving the “happy fall y’all” and the “Santa Baby” I also love the initial t shirts in Christmas colors.

Handmade Holidays at Pinkie and the Bean - Day 4

Today I am featuring AJ's Country Cottage.

I found Audrey's shop, AJ's Country Cottage, one day on Etsy when looking for handmade soaps.  Handmade soap is one of my favorite "pamper me" items.  I love the scents and the feel of handmade soap.  Once I found her soap listings, I discovered her candles, too.  I was immediately attracted to Audrey's colorful pictures of her products.

I contacted Audrey and asked her if I could blog about her shop and share her wonderful products with all of you.  She took a few minutes and answered my questions about how she got started and more about her products.  This is what she told me.

How did you get started? I can't remember a time when I wasn't fascinated by candles.I poured my first wax creations when I was about 13. I love the warm ambience the steady flame creates as well as the beauty that the scents, colors and textures bring to our homes. But I became frustrated that many commercial candles didn't burn well or scent my room when lit. So I set out to make candles that would do those jobs. Thus was born AJ's Country Cottage. Scent is very important to me and I think it's a powerful medium. It can energize or relax. It can evoke feelings of tranquility, peace and calmness. It can help create a warm, inviting atmosphere. It plays a strong role in creating a cozy, welcoming retreat and a place of personal refuge. Fragrance is associated with happy memories and can trigger recollections. Think of the scents traditionally associated with Christmas, for example: freshly-cut spruce boughs, cinnamon sticks, clove-studded oranges, bayberry, simmering apple cider, tart cranberries, rich nutmeats, pumpkin pie, peppermint candy. Getting a mental image and recalling some fond memories? Fragrance is powerful stuff!

How long have you been doing this?  I've been experimenting with candles most of my life, but the time was right for me to get down to serious business about seven years ago. I've never looked back! I love what I do. I started with paraffin, as that was the only wax available when I was a kid. As the new vegetable waxes such as soy and palm became available, I was eager to work with those. We chandlers have so many options these days!

Describe your products:  I love scent, color and variety. So I work with a wide selection of fragrance types in my candles, from earthy and herbal to sweet and foody. My hope is that I have something for everyone who is as fascinated by candles and scent as I am. Life can be so stressful; my desire is to help create an inviting, tranquil place of retreat and a warm, restful, cozy place where people feel welcome and relaxed. Of course, it never hurts to make your workplace smell great, either! :)

Tell us about one of your favorite items? Scent is so personal, and my favorites vary by season. But best of all, I love vanillas and spices - especially clove - so those candles are my all-time favorites. They are comfort scents for me. Running a close second are citrus scents such as lemon and orange; they make me feel sunny, happy, and energized. Maybe that's because citrus evokes early childhood memories from California, where I grew up amidst orange groves. :) I also have to confess a huge weakness for anything pumpkin. *sigh* Earthy scents such as sandalwood, cedarwood and patchouli also make me happy, depending on my mood. Right now I'm into burning Sugar & Spice and Pumpkin Souffle. Yum!

Do you have any sales, discounts or specials going on? By buying my multi-pack listings, customers get a discounted price on every candle! I plan to keep this price break going right on up until Christmas. Look for my Etsy listings such as "Choose Any 3" or "Choose Any 6" etc. for this deal. It's a great price per candle, plus the flat-rate shipping boxes I use save customers even more money since they can fill the box and not pay any more for shipping.

When is the last date you need for orders to be in to be guaranteed delivery by Christmas? December 15th.  I usually ship within one business day after orders are received and ship my candles via priority mail so they typically arrive in about 2-3 business days, although during the busy, high-volume Christmas season, it may take the post office a day or two longer to deliver.

Today I am shining the spotlight on CreativeKates.  This is an Etsy store that is run by a mom and daughter duo.  Katie is 14 years old and is a huge part of the design and creative process at CreativeKates.  They shared some information about how they got started with me.  I think this is a fabulous story and an inspiration to moms and daughters all over.  If I am able to get Bean to do anything with me when she is 14, I will be amazed and grateful.

"My daughter and I started the shop in June of this year. We started selling our jewelry at local fairs and craft bazaars and then discovered Etsy and have been selling ever since. My daughter is 14 years old and her name is Katie. Katie developed the banner and store name CreativeKates. She also is the photographer and has created all of the jewelry listed except for the vintage repurposed pieces. Katie's favorite piece is the Pink Sherbert Rose Ring and mine is the Pink Lemonade Ring. We enjoy making jewelry together and living here on our farm."

Handmade Holidays - Sweet.Bee.Bowtique w/Giveaway!

Today I am featuring Sweet.Bee.Bowtique Bows.  I found Sweet.Bee one day on Facebook and stalked followed Lacie, the owner, around to her blog.  I have purchased a few bows from her and love all of her designs.  Bean has received several compliments on her cupcake and Halloween bows.  She also wore one to a cousin's wedding and everyone thought it was adorable.

Of course I had to buy it, it has cupcakes on it!!!

How did you get started? A friend of mine had our baby's within one week of each other but she had the girl and I had the boy. She made all these cute bows for her daughter and everyone at church raved about them. I already had 2 girls of my own so I started to experiment with the bows and let me tell you...they have come a VERY long ways in 2 years. Now I love it and have a GREAT passion for making them. I am always on the lookout for new ribbon.

Share one of your favorite items?  I cannot pinpoint just one bow to be my favorite. I love them all...I really do. Usually when I make bows I usually make at least 1 extra to add to my girl's collection :)
