It's that time of year again...Halloween Store!!!

This weekend we stopped by our newly opened Halloween Store. I love the Halloween Store. There are so many things you can do when you're there.

Like see a friend's new baby.

Or run into an ex-boyfriend.

Pick up some cold cuts.

Realize that in this economy some people have really fallen down on their luck.

Drool over the latest fall fashions.

Or you could run into some folks that are just hanging around.

You can even see some celebrities.

Let's not forget to say hello to our elders.

But whatever you do, don't forget to put on your makeup before you leave the house.  You'd hate to be caught out looking like SOME people.

Halloween Pirate House

In my earlier post today I mentioned a house we went trick-or-treating to last night. The owners made the front of their home into a pirate ship. Here's the picture.

And I couldn't even get my husband to bring down the one and only box of Halloween decorations from the attic.  Sheesh!

I wanted to share some pictures of Bean in her Halloween costume. I had worked really hard on an Abby Cadabby costume for about 3 weeks when she informed me that she didn't want to be Abby, she wanted to be Minnie Mouse. Wha? But I...okay, let's go to the store.

So we found the last 2T Minnie Mouse costume in town and Bean got her wish.

Our first stop of the evening was Nano's where Bean got to see all of her cousins dressed up.  Then it was off to Nanny Red's for a short visit.

Bean was really starting to get the hang of this trick-or-treating business so she was ready to head off downtown to start plundering.  I will try and share a picture of one of the most creative homes decorated for Halloween that I've ever seen.  Hubz has that picture on his phone and I'm trying to get him to send it to me. A family transformed the whole front facade of their home into a pirate ship.  It was amazing.  Hopefully, I'll get the picture and can share it with you soon.

Bean had a very good Halloween.  She was reluctant to take off her costume and even wanted to wear it to school today.  I hope you all had a great Halloween, too.

Hello Halloween Kitty

Hubz asked Bean what she wanted him to carve on her pumpkin. Her first response was "scary monster."  Hubz was excited by this.

He had me go online to find scary monster pumpkin patterns. Everything I showed Bean was "too scar-eee".

I kept scrolling through a website clicking on "next", "next", "next" when up pops a Hello Kitty pattern.

You would have thought The Great Pumpkin showed up at our house.

"Hello Kitteeee! Hello Kitteeee!!! Mommy, I want a Hello Kitteee plumpkin!!!"

Hubz moaned and groaned. "What happened to scary monsters, Bean? Hello Kitty isn't scary or cool."

"I wanna Hello Kitteee one, Daddy."

Our fall porchscape

I wanted to share some pictures of our fall porch-scape. Bean's preschool held a mum sale and this has to be one of the biggest mums I've seen. I can't wait for it to fully bloom. I threw in a pepper plant for some seasonal color.

I found this printable at The Diary of Dave's Wife and made a broom parking sign to go in the mum. Here's how I put my sign together.

I took a piece of a cutup drink carton and coated it with Mod Podge.

While the Mod Podge was still a little tacky, Bean and I sprinkled glitter all over the sign.

Glitter makes everything better.

Once it was all dry, I attached a dowel rod to the back with some tape.  Then we placed it loosely inside the mum and moved the pumpkin up for a little bit of company for the sign.  Of course, then we had to add a couple of brooms so all the witches would know exactly where to park.

These Monster Jars from Crazy Domestic are very cute but thankfully not that scary.

Our Fall Mantel.

I spent some time this weekend doing a little Halloween decorating. Here's our mantel. I wanted a "Hitchcocky" theme. I tried to make it look a little sparse and old fashioned and since Hitchcock was on my mind, I threw in a couple of the scariest stuffed birds I've seen. You all know birds scare the life out of me. I try not to look at the mantel too much when I'm hanging out by myself.

I can't quite decide if the wreath really goes well.  I made it the day before and thought it gave the whole mantelscape a little height.  It's still up there.  That might be more from laziness than from any decorating where-with-all though.
